Difficult round for Cramlington after promotion to top division
Lewis Notely, James Notely and Elliot Weedy were out again representing Cramlington in the third round of the Junior British Club League in division 1 at Ormesbury on Sunday 25th January 2026 after been promoted to following their performance in round one and two.
Round 3 consists of 5 matches against Brandon A, Ormesbury 2, Ormesbury 1, Ormesbury 3 and finally NETT A.
The first game saw Cramlington go against Sam Dale, Jude Warner and Daniel Dobson as Brandon A. This has James go up against Sam winning in the 5th set 2-3 (11-6, 5-11, 11-7, 11-5, 11-4) and Lewis taken on Jude just losing out in the 5th set 2-3 (5-11, 12-10, 2-11, 12-10, 7-11). The rest of the match-up saw Elliot against Daniel 0-3 (2-11, 5-11, 8-11), Lewis against Sam 1-3 (11-9, 5-11, 3-11, 9-11), James against Daniel 2-3 (11-9, 11-9, 5-11, 5-11, 5-11) and Elliot against Jude 0-3 (4-11, 8-11, 4-11) leaving Cramlington seeing a loss of 1-5.
Second match, Cramlington took on Ormesbury 2 with Mindy Gao, Jonti Barnes and Jamie Dent. First game saw James against Mindy 0-3 (5-11, 6-11, 8-11) and James against Jonti 0-3 (7-11, 0-11, 7-11) putting Cramlington 2 games down heading into the third game with Elliot against Jamie 2-3 (8-11, 8-11, 11-8, 12-10, 2-11) taking Cramlington 3 points down at the half-way mark. Lewis took on Mindy 0-3 (1-11, 8-11, 4-11) and James took on Jamie 1-3 (2-11, 9-11, 11-6, 8-11) with Ormesbury 2 taking another point off Cramlington. The last match saw Elliot play Jonti 0-3 (6-11, 2-11, 6-11) giving Ormesbury 2 the win 6-0 against Cramlington.
The next opponent for Cramlington in the third game was Aaron Christie, Jack Buckley and Jack Walker as Ormesbury 1. This match started with Lewis versus Jack Buckley 3-0 (13-11, 11-8, 11-8) and James versus Aaron 0-3 (7-11, 12-14, 8-11) followed by Elliot verus Jack Walker 0-3 (6-11, 7-11, 6-11). Moving into the second half of the match with Cramlington behind 1-2, Lewis faced Aaron 0-3 (6-11, 5-11, 8-11) and Elliot faced Jack Buckley 0-3 (9-11, 9-11, 3-11) just leaving James to play against Jack Walker 2-3 (5-11, 10-12, 4-11, 6-11, 7-11) making the final score 1-5 against Cramlington.
Moving into game four, Cramlington had to take on Aliya Zhuzbayeva, Harriet Goodwin and Lewis Paton from Ormesbury 3. The match started with a game between James and Aliya 3-0 (11-8, 12-10, 11-8) placing Cramlington in the lead. The rest of the match saw James go against Harriet 3-2 (5-11, 11-4, 11-8, 12-14, 11-6), Elliot versus Lewis 0-3 (5-11, 5-11, 5-11), Lewis taking on Aliya 0-3 (10-12, 6-11, 8-11), James versus Lewis 3-0 (11-8, 13-11, 11-9) and finishing with Elliot and Harriet 3-1 (11-5, 10-12, 11-6, 11-7) giving Cramlington a draw with 3-3.
The final team for Cramlington was NETT A made up of Philip Moss, Hayden Hunter and Zac Lowes. Lewis took on Hayden 3-2 (11-5, 4-11, 8-11, 11-3, 11-3) first followed by James against Philip 1-3 (11-5, 4-11, 4-11, 10-12) and Elliot against Zac 1-3 (5-11, 12-10, 7-11, 9-11). The last games of the day were Lewis and Philip 3-1 (11-4, 11-8, 1-11, 11-7), Elliot and Hayden 0-3 (3-11, 6-11, 4-11) and finishing with James against Zac 3-2 (11-3, 11-6, 6-11, 7-11, 11-4) scoring Cramlington a 3-3 draw.
